We are seeking a dependable, safety-minded Hybrid Delivery Driver / Construction helper to support our electrical and construction operations from our Escondido office.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable driving throughout San Diego County, picking up will-call materials, making jobsite deliveries, and assisting field crews when deliveries are complete. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, physically capable, and willing to step in wherever the operation needs support.

Driving is an essential function of this position because the employee will regularly use a company vehicle to pick up and transport electrical/construction materials and make deliveries to active jobsites across the service area. 

Field duties may include trenching, backfill open trenches, material handling, jobsite cleanup, equipment loading/unloading, staging material, supporting installations, and other general labor as directed by the field supervisor. 

Primary Responsibilities

Material Pickup and Delivery

• Pick up electrical, construction, and miscellaneous materials from suppliers, distributors, will-call counters, and other designated locations.

• Deliver materials, tools, equipment, and supplies safely and accurately to active jobsites.

• Service projects throughout San Diego County, generally from Oceanside south to Chula Vista.

• Verify purchase orders, packing slips, quantities, part numbers, and delivery locations before leaving the supplier or warehouse.

• Obtain delivery confirmations, signatures, photos, and other documentation as required.

• Communicate delivery status, shortages, damaged materials, backorders, and schedule changes to the office, project managers, supervisors, and field crews.

• Assist with loading, unloading, organizing, securing, and staging materials at the Escondido office and jobsite locations.

• Keep the company vehicle clean, organized, fueled, maintained, and ready for daily operation.

• Report vehicle maintenance needs, safety concerns, accidents, damage, or incidents promptly.

• Follow all traffic laws, company vehicle policies, jobsite requirements, and safe-driving practices.

Field Labor and Crew Support

• Report to assigned construction crews when delivery responsibilities are complete or when directed by management.

• Act as a second man/helper for electrical and construction crews.

• Assist with trenching, digging, excavation support, conduit handling, material movement, jobsite setup, cleanup, backfill support, and other general labor activities.

• Load and unload conduit, wire, fixtures, tools, equipment, and construction materials.

• Assist with organizing jobsite materials and maintaining clean, safe work areas.

• Support crew productivity by anticipating material, tool, and equipment needs.

• Perform physical outdoor work in varying weather, terrain, and jobsite conditions.

• Follow direction from field supervisors, foremen, project managers, and operations leadership.

• Follow all company safety procedures, including required PPE, safe lifting practices, traffic/jobsite awareness, and daily safety expectations.

Qualifications

• Valid California driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

• Ability and willingness to drive throughout San Diego County as a regular and essential part of the position.

• Prior delivery, warehouse, electrical, construction, landscaping, utility, or general labor experience is preferred, but not required.

• Comfortable performing physically demanding outdoor construction work.

• Ability to safely lift, carry, push, pull, and move construction materials and equipment; lifting up to 50 pounds regularly may be required.

• Ability to work around trenches, uneven terrain, active construction operations, heavy equipment, and changing jobsite conditions.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate professionally with suppliers, office staff, supervisors, crew members, and customers.

• Strong attention to detail when checking material orders, quantities, addresses, and delivery instructions.

• Dependable attendance, punctuality, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.

• Ability to work independently while making deliveries and work effectively as part of a field crew.

• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

• Starting pay of $19.00–$21.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Work Environment

This position is based out of our Escondido, California office and supports projects throughout North and South San Diego County. The role combines driving, supplier interaction, material handling, warehouse/yard support, and outdoor field construction work.

The successful candidate must be prepared to transition between delivery responsibilities and active field labor as operational needs change throughout the day.
